The Canary Islands, geographically located in Africa, belonging to Europe but with a predominant influence from America, are a very unique territory where remarkable artists emerge. It is for this reason that Galería Artizar was founded in 1989, with the aim of giving visibility to Canarian artists in the local, national, and international context.

Romina Rivero is a contemporary artist whose multidisciplinary work unfolds at the intersection of the poetic and the biopolitical, addressing pain, scars, and healing as the core concepts of her artistic practice. Her work is established as an act of resistance and transformation, stripping pain of its tragic condition to restore its sublime quality. Through suturing, she ennobles the wound, proposing an aesthetic discourse that reclaims fragility as a form of power, in a creative process where values of equity, dignity, and social justice prevail.

This year, her creative work continues to expand through both individual and collective projects, where photography and performance have become essential components of her practice.
