Glad to meet you!
This is our story.
Art Photo Bcn has combined the efforts of many professionals in the sector since its first edition. We have sought the confluence of several leading activators to endorse our contents, supporting them with the work of great professionals of renowned trajectory who help us and participate in each edition. Professionals who feel supported and part of a team and, after ten editions, we can say that after ten editions, of a community where they feel reflected and identified thanks to the exhaustive quality work of the whole team.
The Art Photo Bcn team has been growing since its first edition in 2014 with professionals based in different cities. Created and developed by Isabel Lazaro, cultural manager, critic and exhibition curator who directs the festival. Since 2017, online communication has been in the hands of Miren Pastor, photographer and cultural promoter. This year Elena Aristoy joins the communication team for the specialised part of the press.
In 2018 a restyling of the festival was carried out, creating a new image and website with the work of Rubén García Castro who carries out the tasks of integral design of the event in all spheres of application, online and offline in each edition. Rubén creates a graphic system by adapting the image of the winner of the previous edition of the portfolio review to achieve the new graphic image of the entire current edition and providing an overall treatment to the slogan of each year and its graphic reflection. The website has been created by Jon Unibaso, a full stack programmer, with Ander Pastor, architect and photographer, who created the online platform under the Viewing Room 360.
Since 2020 Gary Manrique joins our team as responsible for sponsors and sponsors.
In 2022 Vicenç Boned joins the team as curator of contents of the fair section in solo project format. His work of research and accompaniment of the galleries as well as the dissemination of collecting makes his role of vital importance. Ana Benavent carries out this same task in the Photobook market with the specialised publishers. Since the tenth edition, Moritz Neumüller has been developing the VIP programme, researching collectors both within and outside our borders to create a programme that serves both to attract the sector and to give visibility to its line of acquisitions.
Since the 7th edition, LoCa Studio has been incorporated as architects in charge of the layout and design of the structures that distribute the fair and photobook market space. The entire production of the event is geared towards the sustainability of materials and their reuse, a speciality in which Carlota Casanova’s studio, LoCa Studio in Barcelona, works.
Our team includes the independent professionals who make up our selection committee (Jesús Micó, Gonzalo Golpe, Simona Rota, Moritz Neumüller and Arianna Rinaldo) as well as those who make up our group of visionaries who connect us with various institutions and entities (Roser Cambray from MNAC, Irene de Mendoza of Fotocolectania, Carmen Dalmau from EFTI, Roger Batiste and Xavier Francés from Copia Lab, Eduard Bertrand from IEFC, Gemma Planell from MACBA, Bernat Millet from Lumínic, Eugenio Gay Marín from El Observatorio, Mireia Plans and Arola Valls) as well as the teams from the different venues of our event. In this sense, together with the authors who have been participating since the first edition and the public who follow us in person and online throughout the years, we can say that we have managed to activate a community that we want to make grow towards the general public.
