Pleased to meet you!
This is our story.
Since its first edition, Art Photo BCN has been the result of the collaboration of numerous professionals from the photographic sector. Our goal has always been to bring together leading figures from the art and photography world to support high-quality content, based on the work and career of great professionals who contribute and participate in each edition. These experts not only support but also feel part of a team, and after ten editions, we can proudly say that we have created a community where they feel reflected and identified, thanks to the commitment to quality from the entire team.
Art Photo BCN started its journey in 2014 and has grown since then with the help of professionals from different cities. The festival was created and is directed by Isabel Lazaro, a cultural manager, critic, and exhibition curator, who is also responsible for curating the selection of participants for the fair. Since 2017, Miren Pastor, a photographer and cultural activist, has managed online communication, and in 2022, Elena Aristoy joined, specializing in press. In 2024, Pablo López Ábalos joined the team to manage social media, completing the communication team alongside Nacho Giralt, our official photographer.
In 2018, we carried out a festival restyling with a new image and website, designed by Rubén García Castro, who is responsible for the event’s integral design, both in online and offline formats. Rubén adapts the image of the winner from the previous edition’s portfolio reviews to create the new edition’s graphic identity, aligning the theme and its visual representation. Our website was developed by Jon Unibaso, a full-stack programmer, along with Ander Pastor, architect and photographer, under the Viewing Room 360 brand, who designed the online platform.
In 2020, Gary Manrique joined as head of sponsors and partnerships, and in 2022, Ana Benavent took on the selection of participants for the Photobook Market, ensuring the presence of specialized publishers. Since the tenth edition, Moritz Neumüller has overseen the VIP program, researching national and international collectors to create a program that attracts key players in the sector and increases the visibility of their acquisitions.
Since the seventh edition, LoCa Studio, led by Carlota Casanova, has been responsible for the design and layout of the fair and Photobook Market space, using sustainable materials and promoting their reuse.
Our team also includes independent professionals from the selection committee: Jesús Micó, Gonzalo Golpe, Simona Rota, Moritz Neumüller, and Arianna Rinaldo, along with our group of portfolio reviewers who connect us with key institutions such as MNAC, Fotocolectania, EFTI, Copia Lab, IEFC, MACBA, Lumínic, El Observatorio, and many more.
Lastly, we must highlight the contribution of the artists who have participated since our first edition, as well as the support of our audience, both in-person and online. Thanks to them, we have created a vibrant community that we continue to expand, aiming to reach an even broader audience.
