Investigate, create and formalize. These are the three steps of the Paula Artés projects that she will teach in the workshop session to be able to apply them to different creative processes.
Paula Artés uses photography as an excuse to access different types of spaces and collectively question them. She has been personal assistant to photographer Tanit Plana, production assistant at RM publishing house and worked in Jordi Bernadó’s studio. She is currently a teacher in the photography graduate at Idep Barcelona and his Firma, project is exhibited at the Art Photo Bcn festival. With her research projects, she has been selected for the Photoespaña Descubrimientos in 2016, at SCAN Photobooks, Sala d’Art Jove Producció e Investigació, Unseen Dummy Award, Athens Photo Festival, Viphoto Fest, Lab Fiebre Photobook and Art Photo Bcn. In 2019 she published her first photobook Fuerzas y Cuerpos and at the end of the same year he carried out his first artist residency at the HISK in Belgium for a month, where she began researching the Ejes del poder (in) visible project.
Thought of as a lecture, Paula Artés’ workshop will teach a work methodology that can be applied to different kinds of projects, starting from the moment in which the idea is born, research starts, locations are found and editing starts until the moment in which the materialisation of the project happens. There will also be talk of how to find grants and sell a project. The last two works by the author, Strengths and Bodies and Signature, will be used as examples. The idea is to create an open workshop, in which the participants will be able to engage with each other to solve their doubts and establish new dynamic relations.
