Within the Photobook Market of Art Photo Bcn there are many, many books. New and classics, many that you will know and others that you won’t, some that you understand and others that you don’t quite… In this activity, Mateo Pérez, curator and photographer, shows us a wide selection of publications and self-publishing that he has been collecting over the years. the years. Publications made in a thousand different ways, digital printing, risography, offset; stapled, sewn or folded, fold-out; expensive and cheap finishes… and many of them can be found in the Photobook Market.

The purpose of this activity is to make visible the infinity of technical and narrative resources that we have at our fingertips when making a publication. And how to make them useful when it comes to promoting the message we want to convey. We will display the entire collection of publications on a table and we will go on a crazy tour gutting all the publications.



    About Mateo Pérez

    Mateo Pérez studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, ​​later he took the Author Documentary course at the El Observatorio school.

    It focuses its activity on the independent publishing world and cultural management. Since 2018 he has been the coordinator of the Espai Fotográfic Can Basté, where he is responsible for curating exhibitions and the photographic agenda.

    He is a member of the shared authorship group Juan Nadie, with which he edits publications and carries out activities that mix parties and photography. He is also a founding member of the Imp.Hurra! space. where he carries out activities of photographic dissemination and printed art. In recent years he has coordinated different self-publishing fairs such as Xiringuito and Impresses

    He currently teaches as an associate professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona. He has collaborated with other entities such as Boutographies de Montpellier, Imagin La Caixa, Ffoco, Vaia Vaia Festival and Espacio Matrioska.
